Buy1GIVE1™ is an international organisation founded in Australia and now headquartered in Singapore. This simple phrase is at the core of what we do:  sharing the joy of giving.

Buy1GIVE1 is the home of the most powerful, impactful and change-making giving process in the world. It is now a global ‘movement’ bringing together businesses, charities and consumers in a way that has simply not been done before.

Buy1GIVE1 is the central hub of that movement. It’s the source of inspiration, knowledge, systems, processes and insights that together make the biggest sustainable impact ever on the health and wealth of our world.

It’s giving on a scale that’s never been done before. It’s giving that is not motivated by guilt, by natural disasters or by social conscience. It’s giving that’s given because we can; every second, every day and in every way.

It means every time someone buys something from a business who is part of Buy1GIVE1, there is a specific contribution made to a Worthy Cause (selected by the business) automatically. We are the home of transaction-based giving.

There are two aspects to this question: can we do transaction-based giving on our own and can we work with our own charity?

Let’s take the first part first.  And yes, of course you can do transaction-based giving on your own (you cannot of course, use the Buy1GIVE1 or B1G1 logos and marketing materials). Doing on your own in that way is nowhere near as powerful and impactful of having the Buy1GIVE1 branding and marketing behind you. And doing it on your own in this way does not allow you to be part of something bigger – it does not ‘tag’ or establish you as being part of a worldwide movement. So the impact you have is diminished by ‘going it alone’.

Importantly too, on your own you do not play a part in the B1G1 Global Village were you’re exchanging ideas and insights with like-minded people. So again, yes, you can do it on your own – it’s just nowhere near as powerful and impactful to do that.

As to the second part of the question (can we work with our own charity as part of Buy1GIVE1)? Yes you certainly can. And you can pay your charity directly (we MUST see the receipts so that you keep your Buy1GIVE1 branding).

Of course, if you have your favourite ‘cause’ to which you’re donating funds, then it makes enormous sense to have that cause as a Buy1GIVE1 Worthy Cause. That’s because the moment your cause becomes a Buy1GIVE1 Worthy Cause, people all over the world see it and can now link to it and make it THEIR cause as well. And that of course means that your cause receives a greater flow of funds.

Buy1GIVE1 is set up as a Social Enterprise (company) as well as a Charitable Foundation in Singapore.

The aim of Buy1GIVE1 is to create a sustainable movement of giving. The commercial enterprise part of Buy1GIVE1 supports companies to integrate effective giving into their business activities while creating a sense of connection around the enterprise, which naturally results in their own ability to prosper and thrive (rather than simply ‘surviving’).

The Buy1GIVE1 Foundation continues to support other charity organisations to prosper, making their activities even more effective, sustainable and visible.

Buy1GIVE1’s aim is to inspire and connect all of us as one. Yes, that’s a big aim. But as someone once said, “The people crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”

Buy1GIVE1 helps businesses give effectively and 100% of contributions from Buy1GIVE1 Businesses reach their Worthy Cause Partners. So, we frequently get asked this question.

Buy1GIVE1 has a business membership program (just over $1 a day) for businesses that covers part of the operational cost of Buy1GIVE1. Buy1GIVE1 also offers a range of products and services that create resources for the on-going operation of this unique initiative. Some companies and individuals who resonate with Buy1GIVE1's purpose and vision also fund Buy1GIVE1. So, in short, Buy1GIVE1 can keep operating and expanding through many people supporting the concept and coming together to make a difference!

If you have a business, you can join us as a Buy1GIVE1 Business and start making contributions. Your company can be any kind and size to effectively contribute.

On the other hand, if you are an individual who does not own a business, you can become a Citizen of the Buy1GIVE1 Global Village. It means you can get involved in other ways to contribute effectively.

Buy1GIVE1’s vision is to turn every consumer activity in the world into a giving activity with a simple mechanism of giving. It is just like bumblebees pollinating flowers (automatic giving) while receiving nectar (product or service to nurture our life). And this giving action actually creates many side effects beyond the direct result of the Worthy Cause activity.

Giving is an important part of who we are to stay being happy and inspired in life. The more complex, materialistic and convenient our life becomes, the less giving could occur if we forget to be grateful. By bringing the natural (and automatic) giving back in our everyday life, it creates more gratitude and caring in our world.

Amazon does feature on the Buy1GIVE1 site. That’s simply because they allow us to link to their site. So when you order through this link, Amazon ‘rewards’ us and those funds (in the case of books) go to tree-planting projects around the world. More electronic retailers are already linked to us (we haven’t publicised that yet though.

No. Buy1GIVE1 is all about connecting the world in a sense of giving and it does not have any specific link with charity or religious groups.

While we also believe that all the religions and charities around the world acknowledge the importance of giving in one way or another, we do not wish to create a particular view about what is right and wrong. We want to work with all organisations who value the importance of helping each other so that more giving happens in the world.
