Buy1GIVE1 - B1G1 - where business comes to give.

At Buy1GIVE1 (or B1G1 as most people know it now) we’ve got a clear mission — to create a world full of giving. And we do that through providing people with the wonderful process of transaction-based giving — increasingly being called, 'Embedded Generosity' or 'Embedded Giving'.

I find that creating a world full of giving is pretty inspiring. Then I got a note taking it all to another level from my friend (and B1G1 Business client) Tom Minter in the UK. Tom co-founded and co-runs the wonderfully zany and magically brilliant ‘Socks for Happy People ’.

Earlier today we were invited to a trial opening of the brand new Dialogue in the Dark facility at Ngee Ann Polytechnic here in Singapore. It was a stunning experience.

For nearly 2 hours you get to experience darkness and dialogue led mostly by blind people. Sure, you get to experience (ooops, that’s the third time I’ve used that word in three sentences) different sensations in new ways. But because in B1G1 we know something about how Dialogue in the Dark came to be in Singapore , it’s an even more fascinating learning than normal.

You know, cool things keep happening to us.

And one of the coolest things happened on 19th November in Perth. It was the night of the World Premier of the ONE Movie.

The Astor Theatre was literally jammed with nearly 500 people turning up and Masami flew in especially from Singapore not just to be there but also to deliver a most beautiful speech (albeit through a very problematic stage sound system).

The feedback has been stunning. And we’re enormously grateful to B1G1 Business Ambassadors Alex Teh, Sahaja Springer and Shazar Robinson for making it all happen PLUS all the

A few days ago I met an 8-year old girl for the first time. Jilly is her name.

She had a cold. So Kelly, her Mum, brought her along - together with her colouring pencils and books - to a meeting we had.

During a break in the meeting I gave Jilly my iPhone, and I cued it up on the shortened kids-version of the ONE Movie (or the Bumblebee movie as it's becoming known).

She was bent over the iPhone seriously attentive and clearly lovi ng it. And when it finished, she exclaimed, "This is SO cool! I love it."

A little while later, our 'adult' meeting ended and Jilly came up and

Although it's small, the impact is huge. Buy1GIVE1 has released a short film that expresses the depth of the message this giving movement carries.

What Are We Looking For?

If you know 'The Law of Attraction', you already know that the key to living the life we want is all about feeling good. But there is something we could miss if our focus is only about visualising and believing in the life we want to lead.

The new movie released from Buy1GIVE1 shows the simple resonance of giving. We will become ever more aware why giving is a crucial part of our lives -- something we are meant to do naturally

Bees are all giving by nature. They give naturally to maintain the world of abundance. But each bee actually takes different role in maintaining the colony as well as the flower garden. So, I thought human beings are the same. We are all naturally giving and caring. But we tend to express our giving in different ways. So, here it is a 'giving bee' chart where you can find your bee type. Watch out for the following bee analysis! The more you share your value as a givine bee, the more we can do together make a difference.

What is your givn-bee type?

ONE Finding what we are looking for - Bumblebee Movie by Masami SatoOn 10th September 2008, a young lady got up at 1 in the morning. She just had to write down an idea. One hour and 20 minutes later she went back to bed with the perfectly finished script of an astonishing film.

Just 3 days later, she’d completely produced, animated and edited the entire film.

On 14th September, she showed it to a group of friends. They were stunned by what they saw.

She called the film ONE. It’s one of the most beautiful and inspiring movies you’ll ever see.

Unlike the phenomenal success of The Secret, ONE doesn't feature 'teachers'. It features ‘ordinary’

I believe a management expert once said, ‘What you can measure you can manage’. And then a friend of mine added, ‘But measuring what really matters is the real key!’ And then I read that ‘what get’s measured gets done’.

So today, out of curiosity, I decided to measure my ‘Thank yous’ and found out that I have already said the phrase 36 times and I actually wrote it 23 times.

Wow. It must be the most common phrase

Like a Child

Last Thursday I took a flight on AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. And when I fly, I like to read what the Chief Executive is saying in the in-flight magazine.

You can tell so much about the company from the CEO’s articles. Read the QANTAS one and it always strikes me as ‘stuffy’. Read the VirginBlue one from CEO Brett Godfrey and it’s ALWAYS upbeat, always focussed on the customer (in Virgin’s case, the “guest’). And it’s always fresh as opposed to stuffy. But back to AirAsia.

I met AirAsia founder Tony (now Dato Sri) Fernandez four years ago. And you just knew that if anyone

If you’re like me, you can’t help but get fascinated with the ups and downs of American politics. And, if you’re like me, you were pleased to see Barrack Obama come through as the Democratic candidate.

So what does this have to do with Buy1GIVE1?

Simply this. I was on a plane from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur this morning reading my favourite newspaper (the International Herald Tribune) before take-off and I saw an article about Al Gore endorsing Obama.

My thoughts turned to how Senator Obama had used the World Wide Web (amongst other things) to get donations for his campaign that run

An article in today’s Straits Times raised some interesting thoughts.

The article is about so called ‘Flag Days’ where volunteers have tins and rattle them when you’re walking or shopping to get donations.

Here’s a direct quote: ‘ … Singaporeans growing disdain for the army of volunteers waving tim cans in their faces each weekend. Teacher Coen Ching has had students tailing him on the streets, trying to get him to donate. “Such behaviour is very irritating,” he said.

In Singapore, such Flag Days are balloted – they’re only allowed on 63 days of year. But now, the Government here is

The following inspiring quotes are excerpted from ONE, a book by Masami Sato .

On mastering things…

"…doing things we've never done can often seem very difficult and complicated until the day we actually try them out."

"(Children) learn by playing and become the masters of the game. And they do it just by having fun."

"…when something more effective and easy comes along, we let go of the harder way very quickly without being 'taught'."

"Friends share with us what they think and feel.
Teachers teach us what to do and how to do it.
Coaches ask us who we want to be.
Mentors show us who we can be.
