Year Founded 1926
Description St. Nicholas Homes aim is to respond to the emerging needs of blind & visually impaired people in the community, advocating for their rights , offering expertise, education, resources & charity where necessary. Over the 81 years of St Nicholas- Home-s existence, it has formed a strong base of support amongst the Malaysian public. It has become a well respected authority on educating the blind and visually impaired (BVI), and offers advice, assistance, training and support both to government and other NGO-s. St Nicholas- Home offers education and care to many who are marginalised by society, and we believe that much of our support comes from people who see the value in the services we offer to unfortunate who are not afforded care anywhere else by society. St Nicholas- Home was originally created in response to desperate need of abandoned and orphaned children in medical missions in Malacca and Singapore; these were children who had nowhere else to turn. The same is true of many of the services we offer to BVI today. Of course, we also offer training to BVI aimed at enabling them to gain employment and integrate into society. The real value in a -social context- is evident to see by the many and varied supporters of our Home, especially because our services, help and training are offered to all, irrespective of their race or religion.
