Just think about the last time you said “WOW!” Hopefully it wasn’t too long ago. And when it happened, it happened at what we might call a ‘heart’ level. You saw or experienced something and then instantly, you went “WOW”. It wasn’t something you thought for ages about. It was instant. It required no ‘processing’, no thought.
Apple understands this brilliantly. When you pick up an iPhone or an iTouch, it’s instant WOW. So it’s appropriate to ask yourself if this is what you’re generating with your products and your services. Are they instantly WOW? Or are they what authors Nordstrom and Ridderstralle refer to in their great ‘Funky Business’ book, ‘sea of sameness’ things. They put it this way: We are afloat in a sea of sameness: high quality sameness but sameness just the same. To succeed we must stop being so Goddamn normal. In a winner takes all world, normal equals nothing.”
It takes something to rise out of that sea. Most of all, it takes
imagination. Albert Einstein really ‘nailed’ the importance of that
when he wrote:
So, with WOW in mind, let me ask you to imagine this:
Or imagine this. You go out to dinner. You’re welcomed in a great way. And on the very front of the menu you read this: Without doubt, you’d be wowed. And as a direct result, you’d come back to that restaurant AND you’d tell your friends. Here’s the great thing though; you don’t have to imagine it. It's happening right now thanks to the imagination and commitment of Masami Sato and her team at an organisation called Buy1GIVE1Free (now know more widely as b1g1). Masami is creating pure magic and WOW. It’s a WOW you can now add to your business too. Just go to www.B1G1.com/videos and you’ll see how. Adding WOW is essential to our businesses (and indeed to our lives). So stay tuned right here for more ideas soon. |
