WORDS

Earlier today, I was having a discussion about words with my colleagues David and Masami.

Somehow or other the discussion got around to the development of new words. And when you think about it  (or when you read people like William Sapphire in the International Herald Tribune), you realise that new words just appear because people use them!

So, I mentioned that this is already word: Killjoy.  The online dictionary gives it as: spoilsport, party pooper, wet blanket or misery.

But you know what, there (currently) is no word ‘givejoy’.

I reckon we could make it a word. And wouldn’t that be cool? So go on, respond and or comment on the blog and see what meanings you come up with and then use it in a sentence. Here are two to get you started: ‘The guy is so generous, he’s widely known as Givejoy McCoy.” “John was a real givejoy at the meeting.”

Looking forward to hearing yours. What a givejoy it will be.
